About The ACA

In 1993 The American Contractors Agency (ACA) started in Bellingham Washington.  The ACA concentrated on providing general liability insurance, bonds and benefits (discounted accounting services as one example) to Washington contractor's to help them reduce everyday costs.

In 1994 a corporate officer of a larger company providing the same type of products and services began discussions about a merger between the two companies to better enhance the ACA's mission.

In 1995 the ACA completed its merger with the much larger company and substantially increased its ability to provide a wider range of products, services, and benefits.

From 1995 through 2000 the ACA worked with hundreds of contractor's providing insurance, bonds, services, and benefits.

In 2001 a decision was made that the ACA would release all of its insurance sales and insurance licensing and would dedicate itself to concentrating on providing valuable resources, specialty services and unique benefits to professional contractors.

In late 2001, fully separated from insurance sales and licensing, the ACA joined a corporation more involved in Internet services, information and marketing and began providing a helpful checklist to homeowners to protect themselves from unlicensed contractor's.

With the ACA's extensive background in insurance it had seen the damaging effects of unlicensed contractor's; not to mention the unfairness of licensed contractor's having to compete against them.

By 2003, the ACA had helped countless homeowners protect themselves with better information, better questions, and a better understanding of the dangers of working with unlicensed and uninsured contractors.

By 2004, the ACA had secured a comprehensive inventory of valuable resources, unique benefits and specialty services designed exclusively for professional contractors nationwide.

In 2005, due to a definite need to get an "inside look" at how insurance companies are profiting and treating contractors, the ACA obtained a unique report: "Do's & Don't - When It's About Your Contractors Insurance."

With the limited insurance markets available, the strict guidelines to be accepted, the restrictions in operations, and the "up-front" earned premiums contractor's face difficult and complicated choices.

In 2006, the ACA selected an "Exclusive Team of Contractor Insurance Specialists" to represent contractors with the highest level of knowledge, experience and expertise in contractors insurance.

In 2007, the ACA developed a unique and cost effective means for professional contractors to immediately access online work referrals with an "ACA Work Profile Webpage."

In 2008, the ACA provided the "Buyers Beware" page link to expose the monetary incentives of certain insurance salespeople.  True to its label, contractors jeopardize their ability to secure necessary coverage's and competitive rates in the future by making an uninformed selection.

In 2009, the ACA initiated the "Was It Worth It Evaluation" that encourages professional contractors to consult with an ACA Contractor Insurance Specialists, free of charge and without obligation, on their current insurance coverage's and insurer.

Unknown too many professional contractors, their current insurer may have had their financial solvency rating reduced and/or altered their renewal general liability insurance policy to more restrictive conditions and identifying these changes after a claim has occurred is not when we suggest you find out!

Our commitment each day at The American Contractors Agency continues to be that of providing real benefit to the licensed professional contractor.
